Blah, Blah, Blah
Nova started a once a week preschool program on September 15th this year. She loves it!

And now, for the aforementioned (is that a word?) MATERNITY CLOTHES RANT
What the hell is up with maternity clothes designers? I swear to God, they must all
be 50 year old men. THis makes me crazy. So 6 years ago, I couldn't afford
maternity clothes. But all that was out there was huge ass, unattractive clothing, so it
didn't matter that I was wearing thrice used hand me downs from a 40 yr old friend of
my mothers. THe same was true when I was pregnant three years ago. All you could find
was freaking enormous tee shirts and full panel, irritate-the-hell-out-of-your-waist "jeans."
I did manage to get a handfull of cute things, though looking at myself in pictures today
makes me recoil in horror. "I cannot believe you let me go out in public like that," I
want to say to my dear husband. Of course, logically, I know I look just as stunning
now as I did my last pregnancy. "You're due WHEN?!?!" people gasp when I say I am due
in December. Shut up, people. Shut up. Do you even hear yourself speaking?
Okay, back to the maternity clothes ranting.
I went on a drive by myself this weekend to seek out a store I had heard about. New
and used place, who claim to have the largest inventory of maternity and nursing bras in
the Bay Area. It's called "Fashion after Passion." I was, in fact, suitably impressed.
This time was one of desperation. Before getting pregnant this time, I decided that I
was NOT going to look or feel fat or unattractive. I was going to wear sexy, comfortable,
really well made clothing. After all, I deserve it.
Oh, how far I've fallen. You see, manufacturers have "stopped making full panel pants"
(I'll bet) and thus, there's no need to have a huge, long shirt to cover the panel.
Big is beautiful, don't worry about your belly showing. {sigh} Yes, I agree that big
is beautiful. But my ass is just not all that big, and my designer, hip hugging maternity
jeans are starting to slide down off my hips and underneath my massivebelly support belly.
Which, by the way, is NOT all that beautiful, but makes my back feel great, keeps my hips
and pelvis properly in their place, and gives my pathetic abdomenal muscles a break.
So I went to Fashion After Passion, and found a wide variety of maternity and nursing
clothes (as well as LOTS of great big bras). I bought a massive, unattractive, but very
soft nursing nightie and a simple, long tee shirt. $2 each. I guess at least they were
cheap. I'll have to go back and search for more clothes, sorting through the cute, but
wrong size or season clothes, and the "my mother's now 45 yr old friend must have dropped
these off" stuff. The sad thing is, I know there are women out there who are wearing
those outfits. It may not be long before I am one of them.
Why do maternity stores put out winter clothes in September? IT'S STILL HOT OUT PEOPLE!
And the summer clearance racks are completely picked over.
A side note: My neighbor is so nice.
She always manages to complement me on how Goddess-like and stunning I look. She
should work in PR or something.

We are SO very very busy these days
The girls are recovering from a virus, and I am hoping that I don't have it too. Jade had a sore throat Sunday and Monday, but it seems to be totally gone now. Nova had a slight fever last night, and my temp was up a bit too, but that might just be from holding her and being pregnant. But regardless, I am whooped. It's surprising too, how trashed the house got from us being home for 3 days in a row. Usually it improves a bit from us being home. Working on it today. I already managed to get the living room tidy and vacuumed, next on the agenda: the rest of the house, in 15 minute intervals.
Nova is turning into such a big kid. She's 2 and a half now, talking up a storm, and gets intensely involved in her activities. She started a lovely preschool program called Country Kids, and she LOVES it. She never wants to leave. She's also well on her way to potty training. I'm sure it'll be another 6+ months before I can really say she's trained, but she's taking the initiative and using the potty almost as often as not.
Jade is homeschooling and so far we're pretty happy with how the year is going. I wont lie though- it is exhausting at times. Worth it though, I think. Her classes and our activities take up a lot of our time. It feels like we're always on the go. Art, or science, or kids catch it class, park days, playgroups, and playdates. Photo days, field trips, advisory teacher meetings, etc, etc. Plus I have dr appointments and volunteer hours of my own. Our days really are FULL. Now if only I could regularly get us all to SLEEP at a reasonable hour.
Nick is keeping very busy too. He's happy with his job, and learning a lot. He commutes on his electric bike a few days a week, so that takes up some time, but I'm glad to see him getting more active. I worry about his health. He really wants an electric car (a RAV4 EV, preferably), but I must admit, I keep saying, wait, wait, lets save some more money first. I know it's frustrating for him though. He really wants one of these cars, and since they aren't made anymore and are becoming a collectors item, he may never get one.

Overall, I am well.
As it is now evening, I am no longer hot sweaty, and miserable. I'm all drugged up so my allergies wont bother me so much. Here's hoping these new meds are effective! At least I know that, technically, I am healthy. Blood pressure, weight gain, urine, etc specs are all completely normal. Blah blah blah. I still feel fat though, and if one more person tells me I look like I'm going to "go anytime!" ...Well, they may lose a body part or something. Ah, but that's a rant for another day. Stay tuned for my maternity clothes ranting- also known as, "Shall I make myself a toga or tunic to wear then?"
