Academically, my plans are to do...
Well, nothing. That's right. I intend to plan nothing academically, buy no text books, or make any elaborate lesson plans.
"So what are your plans?" you ask...
This is the great thing... My plan is to have fun. That's right, you heard me, my plan is to have fun!
At this point, we still intend to keep Jade enrolled in COIL. I was reasonably happy with our advisory teacher, and have come up with some good parenting and living strategies with her. My main hope is that we'll come up with more strategies to help Jade's reading comprehension and general focus improve, but I have faith that it will happen, and I am not putting any emotional energy into it.
Other fun stuff:
Jade wants to learn the violin. I'm looking into finding a teacher for her. I'd also like to get her into a more athletic activity. We're going to look into swimming, tae kwan doe (spelling?), gymnastics, and dance. (We'll most likely only pick one.) I am hopeful that we can find a way to get back to regularly going to the library. I'd love to start reading chapter books. She also wants to take some pictures, so I'd like to do regular nature hikes and take photos together, her with her camera, and me with mine. Maybe we can get some kiddie cameras for the babies to play with too. It would be great to go on camping trips and do "nature studies" with our cameras.
Beyond that, I don't know! We'll continue gardening, playing in sand and mud, riding bikes, and making each other crazy. I'm considering getting a play pen for small "big kid toys" like legos or k'nex. I feel like it's time to start allowing those mess makers into my home. What joy and excitement that will be! And there are always pipe cleaners, play dough, paint sets, scissors, construction paper, beads, music makers, and on and on and on. And, of course, the ever trusty, Tylenol.
Life is good.
