then Movin' on, Movin' On...

My sister flew home late last night.

She was feeling homesick, and I was sad to see her go, but we had a great time and I feel so refreshed. Having her here for a week was really wonderful and so very helpful.

I'm getting so excited!!

By this time tomorrow, my sister will have arrived in San Francisco, collected her luggage, and we'll have driven back to my home and picked up Nova. I can NOT wait to see her. It's been so long, and it will be so nice to have a friend and "grown-up" to hang out with all day for the next week and a half.

It's August Already!

My sister is going to be here in less than four days. I am so excited. It's going to be wonderful to have someone here to hang out with and help me out w/ the kids and around the house. :-) Whose vacation is this, anyway? {snicker}

I really am looking forward to the next two weeks. Hopefully it wont be unbearable hot. But regardless, I have a fair number of fun, inexpensive outings planned. Mostly swimming and window shopping, but perhaps a few more exciting things too. Just have to wait and see how things go.

On a completely different note- A prayer request

The mother of my best friend from high school is pretty ill. Her name is Cindy and she has been a brittle diabetic for 35 years, insulin dependant for 14. It appears that she has developed severe diabetic neuropathy in her feet, can't walk for any length of time, is in a lot of pain, and fears losing the ability to walk altogether in the future. Not to mention gout, and arthritis, and problems with her liver and pancreas. She's applied for disability, so please pray that gets approved as she really needs it.

Cindy is an awesome lady, and I spent a lot of time in her home during high school. She's had a lot of trials the past years, and deserves a break. It's a question I struggle with sometimes: Why do bad things happen to good people?

My dad is diabetic. I'm not there to hound him, but I hope he's taking good care of himself. We're more than 2000 miles apart, but my kids deserve to know their papa. Hell, he's young eough, I'd like to see him healthy and whole so he can meet MY grandkids. (Preferably 20+ years down the road!)
